Overview of class:  This course is designed to be the second high school chemistry course that a student takes. In order to take this course the student must have already had one year of high school chemistry. In addition to a first year of chemistry, the student needs to have completed Algebra 2. The course covers detailed descriptions of limiting-reagent stoichiometry, atomic and molecular orbitals, intermolecular forces, solutions, equilibria, acids and bases, redox reactions, nuclear chemistry, and organic chemistry. We will be performing occasional labs during class time, some of which will be done by the students, while others will be merely demonstrations.  Students will be expected to complete assignments at home on a weekly basis.  Chapter Tests will be taken at home while exams will be given in class.  Every class will have a quiz that will take 5-10 minutes.  These quizzes are often more time consuming than other classes due to the more difficult level of the material.

Prerequisites for this class:  Algebra II  and   Chemistry

Recommended Grade Level(s) for this class:  11th  - 12th

Estimated Difficulty Level of course for average student:    above average

Average study time for this class will be approximately     4 - 8       hours per week.

Tutor Expectations for Parents:  Parents will be expected to grade all On Your Own, Practice Problems, and Review Questions from the text to be turned in the following Monday.  This includes assigning a numerical grade (0-100) to those assignments.

I will grade all Tests, labs, worksheets and exams.
