Overview of Class: Students will read and translate stories about a real family that lived in Roman Britain in 100 A.D. The stories are presented in a fun comic strip style with commentary by a mouse named Minimus who lives in the family's house. Students will frequently be given worksheets with exercises concerning certain elements of grammar and vocabulary. In addition to the vocabulary and grammar they learn, students will have a glimpse into the culture and history of ancient Rome by reading from Famous Men of Rome. A quiz will be given each week on vocabulary and the chapter they read from Famous Men of Rome.
Prerequisites for this class: Knowing English parts of speech. Ability to memorize 10-15 vocabulary words each week which they will be quizzed on.

Tutor Expectations for Parents:
New vocabulary: Check each word on student’s flashcards for spelling accuracy before you initial the card. Give the student a practice quiz at home on the new words. Have students correct errors on returned quizzes. Directions will be handed out at the walk-through.
Homework Assignments: Read instructions with your child to be certain he/she understands what is required. Examine completed assignments and compare against the syllabus before he/she brings them to class. Have your child rewrite messy assignments.
Tests: Oversee the taking of tests that will be sent home.
