Overview of class:
A study of Latin grammar and vocabulary with translations that enhance students’ knowledge of Roman culture and mythology. As students progress in their study of Latin, they will read more complex passages. Those students who wish to later study other foreign languages will find that the grammar concepts learned in Latin are transferable to other languages. Latin mottoes and expressions that have been incorporated into English will also be learned.
Prerequisites for this class: A good foundation in English grammar including parts of speech, syntax and tenses of verbs. N.B.: The study of Latin requires much memorization.
