Art with Art History

Tutor – Annie Furr

Course Description

If you’ve always wanted to do art, but thought you had to be born with that gift, this class will prove you wrong! ANYONE can learn to draw and improve in art with practice and the right method. We will begin the year with a focus on the “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” method by Betty Edwards. You will learn that drawing is a skill that can be learned and is much more about SEEING than drawing itself. We will build upon the drawing methods by learning some color theory, experimenting with different art techniques and styles, and mixing in some art history. My hope is that my love and joy of art will be contagious and that whatever skill level you begin with, you will have improved by the end of this class!

Parents should supervise any internet research that your student does throughout the course of this class. We at RTA have no way of controlling what pictures, sites or information a student may stumble upon when looking online for art. I will share a links with students and parents on my syllabus for a few sites that I like. Again, please be sure to supervise your child’s use of these sites.
