Yearbook/Photography

Tutor – Natalie Tiller

Course Description

Students will obtain basic digital photography skills and knowledge from taking this course. We will learn photography vocabulary and concepts, such as shutter speed, depth of field, the parts of a camera, and the elements that make-up photographs. This course will also give students the opportunity to edit their photos and learn how to create layouts with their photos on the computer using software. Our class will have the great opportunity to apply what we learn, as we get to take photos to create an original yearbook for the tutorial! Students will come together with ideas, discuss, and work as a group to produce the yearbook pages and how it is laid out. Students will be responsible for taking pictures throughout each week and at RTA events held for the 2023—2024 school year.

Note to Parents: Please supervise any internet research your student does throughout the course of this class. We have no way of controlling what pictures, sites, or information they may stumble upon when looking for photography examples.

Note: If you do not currently have the equipment required, I advise you to shop around for the best
deal. You can get some good deals on refurbished or gently used camera equipment. The site
bhphotovideo.com is a good DSLR camera buying site, but Amazon and Facebook Buy and Sell Marketplace may also have affordable options available. Any DSLR camera will do, though, and there is no specific brand or camera you must have.
