Classic Christian Lit and Comp

Tutor – Ginger McCreery

Course Description

This class will be both academic and appreciate in nature. We will explore all sorts of classic Christian Literature, with no denominational bias or slant. We want to get at the very heart and core of literature that Christians, throughout history and in modern times, have read, been inspired by, and have recommended to others: the very essence of Christian Literature. We will read devotions, poems, sermons and some less well known ones, as well.

Required Text

While you will need a lot of books for this class, most of these titles can be found at used bookstores or through online sources quite cheaply.  Instead of buying an expensive textbook that you will never use again, you will be investing in real books for your student and home. ISBN’s and publisher names have been provided below, but these specific editions are not required. Bargain books are fine as long as they are unabridged and the student has a physical copy to bring to class.

Your text will be real books. The class will move in a chronological way, from oldest works to more modern ones. There will be four essays, one per quarter, four exams, one per quarter; weekly quizzes; and lots of reading. Come join us as we explore what it means to be a Christian and how to apply Biblical Christianity to our lives today.
