Course Description

This one-semester course is a combination of public speaking and leadership.

This course is designed to help participants overcome the fear of public speaking, enhance their communication skills, and develop practical leadership abilities. Drawing inspiration from Toastmasters International and renowned leadership teachers like John Maxwell, the course will provide a comprehensive understanding of public speaking and leadership principles.

Note to Parents: Please supervise any internet research your student does throughout the course of this class. We have no way of controlling what pictures, sites, or information they may stumble upon when interacting with others on the internet.

Objectives of this course:

  • To overcome the fear of public speaking and build confidence
  • To develop effective boy action in speaking
  • To create the ability to arrange ideas and speech
  • To learn vocal variety and various speech styles
  • Learn to evaluate speeches
  • To understand leadership styles
  • To demonstrate an understanding of the multiple purposes of public speaking
  • To complete diverse leadership roles in Toastmasters Meetings
  • To demonstrate team building

By the end of this course, participants will overcome their fear of public speaking and develop effective communication and leadership skills that can be applied in various personal and professional settings.

Text Required

The textbook manual/ folder costs $10 and is provided by the tutor. (this is separate from the copy fee and should be purchased from the tutor on Orientation Day).

This course is recommended for grade levels 7-12.
