Jr. High Lit and Comp (blue list)

Tutor – Ginger McCreery

Course Description

Good readers make good students!  Good literature provides academic excellence and excellence of character.  This class will be both academic and appreciative, in nature.  Every attempt will be made to accommodate the interests of both male and female students.  We will examine lots of different genres, including short stories, mystery, fantasy, poetry, historical fiction and biography.

Required Text

Please do not purchase text or class materials until after Registration Day in May. There may be updates or changes made to this page before that date. We suggest that class materials are purchased by mid-June at the latest to allow for any shipping lag times and so that students may have any class-preparatory assignments completed.

While you will need a lot of books for this class, most of these titles can be found at used bookstores or through online sources quite cheaply.  Instead of buying an expensive textbook that you will never use again, you will be investing in real books for your student and home. ISBN’s and publisher names have been provided below, but these specific editions are not required (unless noted). Bargain books are fine as long as they are unabridged and the student has a physical copy to bring to class.
