Students are allowed to have cell phones at RTA. The phone must be turned off and in the student’s backpack. If a student needs to use their phone, he/she is welcome to step into the RTA office to do so. We discuss this in every interview and it is enforced. Cell phones provide access to search engines, emails, videos, Facetime, social media… and we do not allow their use during our limited time at RTA (not even during Study Hall or Lunch). If a tutor or board member sees a student with their phone out, it will be collected, sent to the office and returned at the end of the school day.
